Description

Wheat germ vegetable oil is obtained through first cold pressing of the germ of the grains of the botanical species Triticum vulgare L., belonging to the Poaceae family.

It is an allohexaploid plant, due to its composition of 42 chromosomes arranged in 6 sets from three different genomes. The plant possesses three identical genomes, which contain repeated genetic information, granting the species great adaptability to different environments.

Wheat is a cereal cultivated worldwide, from the Arctic Circle to near the Equator, and at all types of latitudes, from sea level to over 4,000 meters. It is adaptable to diverse conditions and thrives in subtropical, moderately temperate, and moderately cold climates. The seed shape is oval, and at its flattest end is where the embryo or germ is located.
